News: Spring 2005

The very latest news on Mary’s results is that at the Loughborough Obedience Weekend, little Gypsy won Novice, Kizzy won Open ‘C’ and Quincy won the Reserve Kennel Club Challenge Certificate.

Life carries on as busy as ever for Mary and Dave, with Mary at shows most weekends and inbetween a few training days and cabaret nights. She had a very enjoyable day at Shrewsbury taking an agility training day and has started to write her second book which will probably be out sometime in 2006. At the end of April, she went up to the MyPetStop branch in Leeds to help film a piece for Blue Peter. The two Blue Peter presenters Matt Baker and Gethin Jones were there with the Blue Peter dogs Lucy, Meg and Mabel. Mary had to do a little bit of HTM training with them to get some footage to use on the programme and they also filmed Mary doing some work with the dogs. It was all good fun and they were all very nice people. This is due to go out on television on Monday 1 August, obviously in the Blue Peter programme.

There is a lot of interest in dog programmes at the moment because the following week we had another television producer come to the house to see us who is trying to put together a dog competition programme and they’re talking to Mary about co-presenting it with Shauna Lowry. But it’s early days with that one. During that week, Mary also did a Cabaret Night for Wellingborough Dog Training Club where there were over 200 people in the audience. If you haven’t been to one of these, they are really good nights as Mary is a bit of a comedian once she gets going and it is quite amazing to see what the dogs get up to. And every one seems to be slightly different or that’s what people tell us who have been on several of these nights.

In early May, Dave had his moment of glory. He has a funny little car called a Nissan Figaro or as Mary and the family call it, the ‘Noddy car’! He was contacted by a new car programme being made which was having a feature on the Figaro. So off they went down to Bedfordshire for the filming. They also wanted to include Mary with some of the dogs, so it should be quite amusing to see what they have filmed and we will put it on the site when we have a transmission date.

That’s about all the news for now so check Mary’s events list if you want to see her somewhere.
